Big Win for iOS App Development

Apple announced a new small business program for the App Store last week. This is fantastic news and a big win for startups and small-medium businesses developing an app. Before this program, companies had to pay 30% commission if they wanted their software on the Apple App store. Starting on the 1st of January 2021, businesses making less than 1m$/year qualify to pay only 15% commission on paid apps and in-app purchases.

This comes after many app developers long protested the hefty fee most loudly. However, Tim Cook, chief executive of Apple, said it had made the change because 2020 was a tough year for many small companies.

With the world’s digital transformation, especially during the pandemic, the App Store has become a crucial gateway to customers for companies of all sizes.

App Development companies such as Appello Software, who have many clients in the small-medium sector, can help scale these businesses even better now.

With the reduced commission and available startup grants in Australia, aspiring entrepreneurs will now have more resources to invest in partnering with app development experts.

The new developer program will speed up innovation and help small businesses and independent developers propel their businesses forward with the next generation of revolutionary apps on the App Store.
